Japan has supported Cambodia's National Election Committee (NEC) with over 11,000 election boxes and 40 pickup vehicles worth over US$7 million, according to the committee's press release.
The assistance was part of the memorandum of understanding inked by Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn and Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Hidehisa Horinouchi on Feb. 21, 2018.
This is part of Japan's support for the general elections to take place on July 29 this year, joining by 20 political parties.
Beside the new boxes, Cambodia has 12,000 others also donated by Japan since 1998.
