Government of Japan, through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has helped Cambodia with the construction of health care and treatment buildings at the provincial referral hospital in Battambang.
The ground-breaking for the construction took place yesterday at the hospital's compound under the presidency of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng and H.E. Horinouchi Hidehisa, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia.
The US$14.5 million worth project will result with three health care and treatment buildings encompassing some 3,900 square metre of land surface.
According to Minister of Health H.E. Mam Bunheng, the construction is expected to be completed by June 2019.
Battambang province has currently one provincial � in need of more facilities � and five district referral hospitals, and 77 health centres and six health posts.
There are 1,621 health officials working at the provincial health department and its line services across the province.
