I was deeply saddened to learn of the death toll and destruction on the island of Sulawesi which hit by a powerful earthquake and tsunami, and that more than two millions people were affected, said the Cambodian monarch.
In these painful circumstances, the Khmer Royal Family and the people of Cambodia join me to extend to Your Excellency and, through you, to all the families of the victims our sincere condolences and compassion, he underlined.
While assuring Your Excellency of our solidarity, we express our good wishes for the success of the relief teams in the affected areas. We also wish the injured a swift recovery, he added.
Besides His Majesty the King, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, also sent a condolence letter to H.E. President of Indonesia.
At the same time, the Royal Government of Cambodia announced its contribution of US$200,000 as humanitarian relief for the victims of this tragic natural disaster.
