A high-level delegation of General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE) led by its Director General H.E. Kun Nhim has attended the 132nd Annual Session of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council in Brussels, Belgium.
Attended by directors general and customs officials from WCO's 172 member countries, representatives of the private sector, as well as international observers, the meeting took place from June 28 to 30.
It focused mainly on implementation of WTO's trade facilitation agreement, e-commerce and the challenges it poses to customs, interventions against illicit financial flows and related transnational crimes, customs-tax cooperation, and development of human resources in the field.
The meeting approved a standard framework on transnational e-commerce to boost member countries to develop strategy and plan for e-commerce management.
It also agreed on the setting up of a working group on a comprehensive review of the international convention on the simplification and harmonisation of customs procedures and action plan for 2019-2021.
On the sidelines of the meeting, H.E. Kun Nhim held bilateral talks with his Thai counterpart Mr. Kulit Sombatsiri to strengthen bilateral customs cooperation.
The delegation headed by the GDCE director general also joined the 20th Conference of Directors General of Customs of French-speaking countries held at the National Customs School in Tourcoing, France on July 2-3.
