The first ever Bangladesh Trade and Investment Conference was held here this morning aiming at enhancing the trade and investment connectivity between businessmen and investors of the two countries.
The daylong conference took place in the presence of Cambodian Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce H.E. Chhuon Dara, Thailand-based Ambassador of Bangladesh to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Saida Muna Tasneem, and leaders of the Chambers of Commerce of the two countries.
Various products, ranging from pharmaceutical products to jute and silk, and footwear from 22 Bangladeshi companies were displayed on the occasion.
The event will bring together high-level government leaders from Ministries of Commerce and Investment Authorities of the two countries as well as leaders of their Chambers of Commerce for an exchange of views and ideas on ways to strengthen and expand their bilateral trade and investment, said H.E. Chhuon Dara in his opening speech.
Business-to-business platform will provide an ideal platform for members of business communities for face-to-face business networking and showcasing of products to explore new business opportunities, he underlined.
Bangladeshi Ambassador H.E. Ms. Saida Muna Tasneem said her embassy remains deeply committed to pursue a more dynamic two-way trade and economic relations with Cambodia.
The Cambodia-Bangladesh bilateral trade is worth only US$6 million in 2015, according to the figures from the Bangladeshi Embassy.
