In her first high school game, the freshman scored one goal and assisted on another – all in less than three minutes – to help the No. 5 Blue Devils erase an early two-goal deficit against No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven.
According to Shore head coach Kelly Koenig, at least part of the credit for Lamb’s breakout performance should be attributed to the freshman’s mentor – her older sister Katie.
“Maggie Lamb is a great kid and she’s extremely coachable,” Shore head coach Kelly Koenig said. “But I think her older sister, Katie Lamb, who is our sweeper, has really established the tone for her. Her older sister has taught her how to work hard and she’s watched the traditions and the way our program works.
“So when she came in as a freshman, nothing was new for her. She’s seen her older sister work hard for the last two years within our program and she was able to transition right in because her sister had really established the work ethic and what we expect.”
