H.E. Keo Remy, President of Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), received here yesterday a visiting Japanese delegation led by Mr. Masato Otaka, Deputy Director General in charge of Foreign Affairs Office of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the meeting, Mr. Masato Otaka spoke highly of the smooth June 4, 2017 Commune/Sangkat Council election and expressed optimism for the upcoming general election that it will be as peaceful and violence-free.
H.E. Keo Remy informed the deputy director general about Cambodia's human rights situation, particularly the NGO law, amendment to the law on political parties, reforms of the National Election Committee, and progress of Khmer Rouge Tribunal.
All the above-mentioned steps taken, he underscored, were consulted well with concerned ministries and institutions.
According to H.E. Keo Remy, the meeting is an annual bilateral dialogue between his committee and the delegation of Mr. Masato Otaka to share update from Cambodia for documentation purpose by the Japanese side.
