The Least Developed Countries (LDCs) have agreed to select Cambodia as a Board member of the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF), according to the Ministry of Commerce's news release.
This key role will help attracting projects for the enhancement of people's livelihood and strengthening trade and economic stability in the LDCs, H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodian Minister of Commerce, told Director General of World Trade Organisation (WTO) H.E. Roberto Azevedo in their meeting in Geneva, Switzerland late last week.
H.E. Minister also informed H.E. Roberto Azevedo about the general development of Cambodia and the achievements during Cambodia's leadership of LDC Group Coordinator from Feb. 20, 2017 to Feb. 16, 2018.
H.E. Roberto Azevedo spoke highly of Cambodia's leading role in the LDC Group and he requested Cambodia to continue being member of TROIKA for another two-year period (2018-2019).
As a member of TROIKA, said H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodia will help and support Central African Republic, the new Chair of LDC Group Coordinator to bring more benefits for the LDCs, as well as to promote e-commerce and the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
H.E. Pan Sorasak also expressed warm welcome to H.E. Roberto Azevedo who wants to visit to Cambodia in coming November.
