Cambodian PM Urges Competent Authorities to Improve Public Service Provision

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, advised here yesterday afternoon all competent authorities to improve the public service provision.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of Ministry of Interior, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that public service provision must be "achievable, fast, and transparent".

Public services are divided into "requirement" such as identification card, family book, birth certificate, marriage certificate and death certificate and so on which have to be done and in a quick and transparent manner, and "request" such as the construction of schools, hospitals, temples, infrastructure, etc. which have to be done in accordance with our budget, he explained.

The authorities have to do their work without people's request, for example the issuance of birth certificate when a baby was born, or death certificate when a person died or ID card when a person reached the legal age, he added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also said he may cancel some programs in Phnom Penh in order to take time to inspect public service provision at some localities.
