Cambodia-Japan Friendship Roadside Station in Kampong Chhnang To Strengthen the Provincial Economy

The Cambodia-Japan Friendship Roadside Station in Kampong Chhnang will contribute to strengthening the province's economy and infrastructure, to creating jobs and increasing more income for local people.

The remarks were made by Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak at the inauguration ceremony of the Cambodia-Japan Friendship Roadside Station and the celebration of First National Day on Promotion of Cambodian Products, Third Season of Buy Cambodian Campaign, held in Kampong Chhnang yesterday.

Moreover, the station will help promote tourism through catering service, sales of souvenirs and other local products, he added.

H.E. Minister took the opportunity to mention about the royal government's expansion project of National Road No. 5 which will become part of the ASEAN Highway, and this roadside station, he underlined, will welcome all travellers of different nationalities as well as facilitate the transport and distribution of goods to the south and east-west economic corridors.

H.E. Pan Sorasak expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for their support to physical infrastructure construction in Cambodia, including the inaugurated Cambodia-Japan Friendship Roadside Station, the second of its kind built under a grant aid of Japan through Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).

The event was presided over H.E. Yim Chhay Ly, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development, and Chairman of the National Committee for One Village One Product, and Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Horinouchi Hidehisa.
