Acting Prime Minister, Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, has ordered the competent authorities to ensure security and safety for the lawmakers of the main opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) after there was a warning about a demonstration against CNRP.
Speaking after an annual meeting of the Police Academy of Cambodia on Feb. 16, Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, also Minister of Interior, said that at the request of H.E. Kem Sokha, Acting President of CNRP, he has given an order to national and local competent authorities to cooperate in this issue. But, he added, H.E. Kem Sokha has to inform them wherever he goes so that his safety and security can be guaranteed.
On Feb. 12, H.E. Kem Sokha sent a letter to Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, requesting to take measure to protect the CNRP's lawmakers and members after some political activists planned to conduct a protest in front of the CNRP's headquarters if there is any demonstration against Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen during his visit in the U.S.
