Transport Ministry Hosts Policy Dialogue on Road Safety for Children and Adolescents in Cambodia

Policy Dialogue on Road Safety for Children and Adolescents in Cambodia was held here on May 9 to collect inputs related to road safety, particularly for children and adolescents in contribution to road safety promotion in Cambodia. The event was presided over by H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, with the participation of Dr. Will Parks, UNICEF Representative in Cambodia. The event also attracted some 50 representatives from relevant ministries/institutions, development partners, UNICEF Headquarters, The George Institute for Global Health (TGI), NGOs, the private sector, researchers, and health and traffic safety experts. Addressing the opening ceremony, H.E. Peng Ponea was optimistic that the Policy Dialogue would provide opportunities for all stakeholders to discuss road safety situation, mainly among children and adolescents. The participants were also encouraged to exchange views on suggested policy recommendations and measures responding to the above said issue to contribute to enhancing road safety, reducing risk of road accidents on children and adolescents through the issuance and implementation of effective and inclusive road safety policy.
