SK Group chief set to lead biz lobby KCCI for second term

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won on Thursday was set to head the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), a major South Korean business lobby, for a second term. The Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a general meeting and unanimously reelected Chey as its chairperson. Per custom, the head of the KCCI's Seoul branch serves as the organization's chief. The KCCI plans to hold a general meeting next month and officially confirm Chey's second term as its chairperson through consent from regional chambers and special members. The term of the KCCI chair is three years, with the option for one reappointment. Chey, has served as the chamber's chief since 2021. Chey has introduced key initiatives, such as the KCCI communication platform and the Entrepreneurship Roundtable, emphasizing the need to strengthen the private sector's engagement with the government and the public. He was also actively involved in South Korea's bid to host the 2030 World Expo, having traveled around the world extensively as a special envoy last year. Source: Yonhap News Agency
