The restoration of the Terrace of the Elephants platform, starting from the end of 2021, is expected to complete by the end of 2024, according to the APSARA National Authority. Conducted by the APSARA National Authority, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) through the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation (KCHF), the project is divided into two locations: A of 20 metres long on the north side and C of 15 metres long on the south side. Archaeologist and technical team member of the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology, Ms. Seang Sophany said that at location A, the archeological excavation and rehabilitation of the collapsed upper part have been completed, and restorers have extended the repair of the floor in the south by 3 metres, the part that collapsed to avoid runoff by rain, as well as repaired, strengthened the foundation, and prepared the sandstone wall on the east side of the Terrace. As for the architect and the technical team of the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology of APSARA National Authority, Mr. Prum Tithchhapanrith said that until now, the team has repaired, strengthened, and prepared the leaning wall correctly according to the pattern-90 percent original. The upper floor is being studied to prepare the drainage system according to the recommendations of the ICC-Angkor experts.
