PROPOSAL FOR RUKUN NEGARA AS PREAMBLE IN FEDERAL CONSTITUTION UNDER STUDY

KUALA LUMPUR, The Ministry of National Unity is examining a proposal to integrate the Rukun Negara as the preamble to the Federal Constitution, said Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang. He said the proposal is appropriate given that the principles of the Rukun Negara and the Federal Constitution unite the multiracial citizens of the nation. "Both (the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara) can be integrated into one document. The National Unity Policy takes into account all elements of the Malaysian Constitution and the Rukun Negara. "This matter is still under discussion. We've proposed it to the Government. Following that, a committee will be formed with the legal affairs division to discuss this," he said. He told this to reporters after officiating the Tun Razak Leadership Programme 2024, organised by the Tun Razak Foundation, here today. A total of 75 students who recently completed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination from across Malaysia are participating in the 29th edition of the le adership camp, which runs from May 5 to 19 in Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi. The programme aims to discover and nurture the talents of the younger generation, shaping them into future leaders and professionals. Meanwhile, Aaron expressed his hope that more such programmes would be held to produce exceptional leaders in the future. "For example, at the Ministry of National Unity, we have many leadership programmes under the Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation and the Siswa Foundation to provide leadership education to young people. "These programmes are necessary because we not only want to produce outstanding students academically, but also to nurture their leadership talents," he said. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
