Parliament passes bill on Daegu-Gwangju bullet train project

The National Assembly on Thursday passed a special bill calling for the construction of a high-speed railway connecting the southern cities of Gwangju and Daegu. The legislation propels an 8 trillion-won (US$5.98 billion) project to launch bullet train services between the two cities so as to reduce the travel time from the current three hours to just one. The feasibility study for the project will be exempted. The project calls for completing the "Dalbit High-speed Railroad" by 2030 in time for the two cities' joint bid for the 2038 Winter Asian Games. Source: Yonhap News Agency
