New Office Building of International Border Check-Point of Poipet Inaugurated

The new office building of the International Border Check-Point of Poipet in Banteay Meanchey province was officially put into use on Tuesday to facilitate the cross-border travel of Cambodians, Thais and foreign tourists, especially the cross-border transport of goods between Cambodia and Thailand.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the presidency of Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and H.E. Gen. Ke Kim Yan, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) and Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Banteay Meanchey province.

The new building, whose construction began on Oct. 27, 2017 and was completed on Sept. 2, 2021, cost 17.13 billion Riel (approximately US$4.2 million).

Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Sar Kheng thanked the Royal Government of Thailand, especially the Sa Kaeo provincial administration, which always provide good cooperation with Cambodia, contributing to the development of the Poipet city as well as Cambodia.

Poipet is one of Cambodia's most important international border gates for economy and tourism.
