KUANTAN, The Bailey bridge at Section 102 of Jalan Kuantan-Segamat, which was previously closed for repair work, has been reopened at 4 pm today. Pekan Public Works Department (JKR) said the bridge was now opened to two-way traffic with a maximum permissible load not exceeding 20 tonnes. "Road users are advised to exercise caution when passing through the area and always adhere to the directions provided on signboards. Cooperation from all parties is highly appreciated," it said in a Facebook post. Previously, the media reported that an increase in the number of heavy vehicles, especially those exceeding the 20-tonne load limit, was identified as the cause of damage to the bridge, and monitoring at the site found that the steel plates connecting the ramp to the road had been damaged.
