Cambodia, Bangladesh to Boost Cooperation to Ensure Food Security

Visiting Bangladesh M.P. and Foreign Minister H.E. A.K. Abdul Momen has suggested more cooperation between Cambodia and Bangladesh to ensure food security.

The suggestion was made here at the Peace Palace this morning when he paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, said H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Premier.

On the occasion, H.E. A.K. Abdul Momen requested the expansion of cooperation between both nations in all fields, especially trade, in order to maintain food security at a time when the world is facing rising food prices.

H.E. A.K. Abdul Momen briefed Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the situation of Rohingya refugees, economic situation, and that of COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh.

In reply, Samdech Techo Prime Minister thanked H.E. A.K. Abdul Momen for the briefing, and expressed his congratulations and appreciation for the successful efforts of the Government of Bangladesh in combating COVID-19.

Regarding the cooperation, particularly in the field of trade, Samdech Techo Hun Sen asked H.E. A.K. Abdul Momen to encourage Bangladeshi investors to invest in Cambodia mainly in rice milling and storage by buying rice directly from farmers or by contract farming.
