The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries inaugurated in Kandal province yesterday the Vegetable Shipping and Quality Control Centre.
The inauguration ceremony was held under the presidency of H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Hidehisa Horinouchi.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Veng Sakhon expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for their support, especially for their grant aid for the construction of the Vegetable Shipping and Quality Control Centre.
Thanks to the economic growth, Cambodian farmers have changed their agricultural practice, from subsistence agriculture to agricultural trade, i.e. from farmers to agro-traders, which is a key catalyst for positive change in rural socio-economy of Cambodia, said H.E. Minister.
H.E. Veng Sakhon spoke highly of the newly-inaugurated centre, stressing that it is very necessary both at present and in the future to ensure the quality, safety of products which contributes to enhancing Cambodia's competitiveness, assuring public well-being and environmental fraternity.
This centre is also in line with the ministry's development policy to boost productivity, quality and safety for local and international markets.
