Cambodia has launched the US$55.4 million worth HIV & TB Programme 2018-2020 financed by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in the country.

The launching ceremony of the programme took place yesterday here in Phnom Penh under the presidency of Senior Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth and Mr. Mark Edington, Head of Grant Management Division of the Global Fund.

Representatives from concerned ministries, institutions, Global Fund and civil society organisations were also part of the gathering.

H.E. Aun Pornmonoroth underlined that the Global Fund is Cambodia's key development partner contributing significantly to Cambodia's actions against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

The programme, the senior minister continued, is well aligned with the government's Country System to promote the efficacy of necessary interventions and capacity building for relevant officials.

According to H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth, US$41 million of the funding will be used for combating HIV, while the rest goes to interventions against tuberculosis.
