Uruguay's new technologies in agricultural sector and its economic situation, along with its trade relations with neighboring countries were shared by Ambassador of Uruguay to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Elsa Nury Bauzan Benzano during a recent meeting in Phnom Penh with Cambodian Secretary of State for Commerce H.E. Ok Boung.
According to the Ministry of Commerce's news release, the new Uruguayan ambassador asked Cambodia to consider using the Port of Montevideo with tax exemption as a gate for the export of goods to markets of South America whose total population is over 400 million.
In reply, H.E. Ok Boung thanked his guest for sharing good information with Cambodia to strengthen the cooperation between both countries, especially their trade relations. He appreciated the ambassador's request and advised his subordinates to cooperate with the Embassy of Uruguay on the development project of agribusiness.
H.E. Ok Boung also mentioned about the political and macro-economic stability as well as the progress of trade sector in Cambodia, particularly the negotiation efforts for new markets and the export of Cambodian products to main regional and global markets with the growth rate of more than 18 percent between 2016 and 2017.
