U.S. Science Envoy To Visit Cambodia This Week

U.S. Science Envoy Dr. Geraldine Richmond will arrive in Cambodia tomorrow as a part of her visit to three countries in Southeast Asia from Mar. 4 to 19, 2016, said a press release of the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh.

Dr. Geraldine Richmond will participate in the Cambodia Science and Technology Festival and give a talk entitled "Why I Love Being a Scientist", after her full program in Thailand, and then she will continue her mission to Laos from Mar. 14 to 19, it added.

The return of Dr. Geraldine Richmond to Southeast Asia is in support of the Obama Administration's initiative to strengthen the United States' science and education relationships overseas, it pointed out.

According to the press release, Dr. Geraldine Richmond is the Presidential Chair of Chemistry at the University of Oregon, and president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She is also the founder and chair of the Committee on the Advancement of Women Chemists (COACh).
