U.S. Embassy Sponsors a Band to Promote Relations with Cambodia

The U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh has recently awarded a small grant to Yorn Young and his band in support of his new album to promote the relations between Cambodians and Americans, said the embassy in a press release AKP received here yesterday.

According to the same source, Yong Yorn is a talented Cambodian artist, song writer, singer and musician. Yorn has been working in the field of music and arts in Cambodia for more than ten years. He was selected to attend the 2013 OneBeat programme, which is a U.S. Department of State musical exchange programme to the United States. Participating in this programme inspired him to write the songs in his new album.

His new album of 11 songs, entitled Lovin' USA: Yorn Young Journey Across America, describes different cities and states of the United States, it said.

The purpose of the grant is to build good relationship between Cambodian and American people through music and cultural programmes, underlined the press release.
