The U.S.-ASEAN Business Council, led by its President and CEO Mr. Alexander Feldman, paid a courtesy call on Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol, at the ministry office yesterday.
According to a news release of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the relations between Cambodia and the U.S., and to boost more investment opportunities in the Kingdom.
The delegation included representatives from General Electric Company (GE), Chevron Corporation, Cisco, Coca-Cola Company, ConocoPhillips (COP), Facebook Inc., Ford Motor Company, Visa Inc., Oracle Corporation and RMA Group Inc.
Guests presented to the transport minister their engagement and action plans for the development of infrastructure, road safety and information technology as well as voluntary activities related to the focused areas of corporate social responsibility.
For his side, H.E. Sun Chanthol welcomed the investment purpose of the delegation and informed them of current projects of the ministry, including Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway, monorail, subway, and automatic guide-way transit (AGT).
The minster mentioned about the ministry's effort in strengthening road safety, a study to set vehicle standards determination, vehicle safety regulation (technical standard), promoting the use of electric vehicles.
He also underlined key government's reform to ease investment, promote effectiveness, save time, and eradicate under-the-table expenses.
