AKP Phnom Penh, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here this afternoon at the Peace Palace U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. W. Patrick Murphy.
According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, H.E. W. Patrick Murphy expressed his gratitude to the Cambodian authorities for their humanitarian response to all passengers, including the American ones, on the Westerdam cruise ship.
The U.S. ambassador also highlighted the cooperation with the Cambodian Ministries of Health, Public Works and Transportation, and Tourism, as well as local authorities, affirming to continue this good cooperation.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen laid stress on the Royal Government of Cambodia's commitment and contribution to humanitarian activities.
According to the U.S. Embassy, the meeting between H.E. W. Patrick Murphy and Samdech Techo Hun Sen mainly focused on the continuing coordination on helping American passengers from the Westerdam cruise ship on their journey back home.
H.E. W. Patrick Murphy mentioned about the Cambodia-U.S. longstanding cooperation on public health, which is "crucial as we face the COVID-19 global challenge."
Moreover, Samdech Techo Prime Minister and H.E. Ambassador discussed the upcoming U.S.-ASEAN Special Summit in Nevada; efforts to ensure progress toward a fully prosperous, democratic and sovereign Cambodia; and continued steps to strengthen ties between the two peoples.
