More than two thousand youths gathered here this afternoon at the Open Forum ASEAN on The ASEAN Dream held at Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC).
At this open forum, which is part of the World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2017 being hosted by Cambodia from May 10 to 12, all speakers including Mr. Anthony F. Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia, Malaysia; H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister of Cambodia; Ms. Wai Wai Nu, Founder and Director, Women Peace Network, Myanmar; and Mr. William Tanuwijaya, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Tokopedia Malaysia, shared their views over the young population in the region, skills, digital connectivity, and so on.
H.E. Kao Kim Hourn said young population is a key potential for the future growth of ASEAN.
The young Cambodians and those of other ASEAN nations will be more open to adopting the new technologies promising a bright future, he added.
Currently, more than half of ASEAN's population is under the age of 30, therefore ASEAN region is full of bubbling potential. Not only does the region abound with youth, but it is also rapidly connecting to the digital economy. The ten countries of ASEAN together represent the fastest-growing internet population in the world. The number of people with internet access is growing by 124,000 every day, and will continue to grow at this pace for the next five years.
