TVET Centres Reopened

Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has announced the reopening of all the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres across Cambodia under its supervision.

The minister, H.E. Ith Samheng, made an official reopening note on Oct. 12 via Zoom, stressing that decision followed a thorough assessment by the competent interministerial technical team and the endorsement of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

According to H.E. Ith Samheng, one of the two key assessment results for the reopening is the availability of the safety standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the readiness to implement it by all TVET centres.

Another ground is that nearly all teachers, trainers, staff and students of the TVET centres have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

The minister also underlined that while handling the distance and online training amid the peak threat of COVID-19, TVET centres have secured necessary equipment and facilities and trainers' capacity building to further improve their service for the reopening.

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has currently 199 TVET centres under its supervision, of them 38 are public and 161 are private, and they generated some 60,000 graduates annually for labour markets.
