Traffic Accidents Increased 11 Percent in 2022

Number of road accidents saw a year-on-year increase of 11 percent to 22,976 cases in 2022.

The figure was shared by H.E. Ms. Min Manavy, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in an annual meeting of the National Road Safety Committee (NRSC) here on Jan. 30.

From Jan. to Dec. 2022, there were in total 22,976 road accidents, killing 1,709 people and injuring 4,026 others, she added.

Major causes of the road accidents were excessive speeding, overtaking, and drink driving.

On the occasion, Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior once again called on public’s attention to traffic law.
