Tourism services in Cambodia, including accommodation, restaurants, entertainment centres, as well as tour guides have seen a positive increase.
According to the statistics released at the two-day (Feb. 27-28) 2017 Tourism Stocktaking and Direction-setting for 2018 conference in conjunction with the National Day of Clean City under the theme of Clean City for All and 2nd Clean City Awards Ceremony for 2018-2021, tourism services are on the right track with the growing international tourists arrivals.
Last year, there were 781 hotels, 2,255 guesthouses, 2,239 restaurants, 881 entertainment centres, 619 travel agencies, and 6,123 guides of 12 languages recorded in Cambodia. In 2016, Cambodia had only 647 hotels, 1,996 guesthouses, 1,844 restaurants, and 688 adult entertainment centres.
About 5.6 million foreign tourists visited Cambodia in 2017, a 11.8 percent year-on-year increase, generating some US$3.63 billion revenue, up 13.3 percent, according to a report from the Ministry of Tourism. The Chinese took the lead in touring the Kingdom with 1.2 million, followed by the Vietnamese, the Laotians, the Thais and the South Koreans.
