Chinese tourists are ranking top among the foreign visitors to Cambodia this year by replacing their Vietnamese counterparts, while the number of other foreign tourists is also on a rise, Cambodian Minister of Tourism H.E Thong Khon was quoted by a local media as saying yesterday.
During the first two months of this year, Cambodia has achieved a two-digit tourism growth while during the same period last year, foreign arrivals increased only by 5 percent, he underlined.
The Ministry of Tourism has been carrying out the ASEAN Standards, such as green hotel, clean city, standard services and so on to attract tourists.
Last year, Cambodia welcomed over 5 million foreign tourists, up 5 percent compared with the previous year.
Cambodia is expected to attract some 5.4 million foreign tourists this year and 7 million in 2020 � the effort that will bring about a total revenue of around US$5 billion and generate about one million direct jobs.
