Three Important Documents Approved at ASEM 13

The 13th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 13) was concluded this evening with the adoption of three main important documents, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Chair of ASEM13, said at a virtual press conference held this evening.
The three important documents include the Phnom Penh Statement on the Post-COVID-19 Socio-Economic Recovery, the ASEM13 Chair’s Statement, and the Way Forward on ASEM connectivity”.
Besides, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his pride as Cambodia has successfully host the ASEM 13.
ASEM is an intergovernmental process established in 1996 to foster dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe. It addresses political, economic, financial, social, cultural, and educational issues of common interest in a spirit of mutual respect and equal partnership. Its foremost event, the ASEM Summit, is a biennial meeting between the Heads of State and Government, the President of the European Council, the President of the European Commission, and the Secretary-General of ASEAN. In addition, ASEM Ministers & Senior Officials also meet in their respective sectoral dialogues.
The initial ASEM Partnership in 1996 consisted of 15 EU Member States, 7 ASEAN Member States, China, Japan, Korea and the European Commission. Today, ASEM comprises 53 partners, including 30 European and 21 Asian countries, the European Union and the ASEAN Secretariat. Cambodia joined ASEM in 2004 at the 5th ASEM Summit in Hanoi, Vietnam.
