Paul G. Allen to Offer Live Underwater Tour of the Musashi Battleship Wreckage

SIBUYAN SEA, Philippines, March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Philanthropist and entrepreneur, Paul G. Allen, and his research team will broadcast a live-stream tour of the wreckage of the Japanese battleship Musashi, one of the most renowned and technologically advanced battleships in history. The event will begin at 9 a.m. PHT/10 a.m. JPT, Friday, March 13, 2015.

The tour will offer the first-ever complete view of the sunken ship. Viewers will experience more than an hour of exclusive footage of the battleship, including details such as the bow and stern sections, and the main conning tower. The tour will be conducted using the same state-of-the-art Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) that was used to discover the Musashi.

Musashi was discovered on March 2, 2015, by Paul G. Allen’s underwater research team. The team utilized historical records from four countries, detailed undersea topographical data and advanced technology aboard Mr. Allen’s yacht, M/Y Octopus. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II, and the finding of the battleship is a significant milestone in the annals of naval history.

The Shores of Sentosa Dazzled with Bright Festive Lights as the First ONE15 Christmas Boat Light Parade Comes to a Close

SINGAPORE, Dec. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Residents of Singapore and Tourists alike were treated to a breathtaking spectacle as a flotilla, made up of 21 vibrantly decorated boats, cruised by the coasts of Sentosa and towards the HarbourFront Cruise Bay over two Saturdays, 6 and 13 December 2014.

Held in other cities like San Diego, Newport Beach Fort Lauderdale, and Miami, USA, as well as Sydney, the ONE15 Christmas Boat Light Parade, a first of its kind in Singapore, was truly a sight to behold as power and sail boats of various lengths from 20 feet to 128 feet were adorned with festive lights and decorations to the theme of A Tropical Christmas on Water. “We’ve all seen military parades and holiday parades on land, but never on water in Singapore, which is why this event is so unique and special,” said Brian E. Werner, General Manager of ONE15 Marina Club, the organiser of the boat light parade.

Passing by locations within the Sentosa Harbourfront business precinct, such as Siloso Beach, Resorts World Sentosa, HarbourFront Centre and Vivo City, the participating boats gave a display at the Sentosa Boardwalk where they were assessed by a panel of judges, selected from the event’s sponsors, for cash prizes totalling over S$15,000. Boats were judged based on their creative use of lighting, music, crowd engagement, originality and depiction of the theme of A Tropical Christmas on Water. Open to both boaters (boat dealers, charter boat operators and boat private boat owners from all Singapore Boat Marinas and beyond) and non-boaters alike, various yachts, accommodating from 8 to 50 passengers were available for charter from ONE15 Luxury Yachting for those who do not own boats.

“It was very heartening to see all the creative use of lights and ornaments on the boats; especially when they were all cruising along the Sentosa Boardwalk, it was really inspiring. You can easily tell that the participants gave their all in this parade; some even performed a short musical number as they sailed by the judges’ boat,” commented Chris Milliken, one of the judges and CEO of PengWine®, a product sponsor for the parade. Other judges in the panel included Stephane Fabregoul, General Manager of W Singapore  Sentosa Cove, Sean Sprinkel, Project Administrator at SUTL Group, Keith Lin, a representative from Sony Singapore, and Elisha Teo, a boat enthusiast.

The parade concluded back at ONE15 Marina Club for the Awards Ceremony and Closing Party where participants and guests indulged in a sumptuous spread of finger food, free flow of wine, beer, soft drinks and were entertained by live music.

ONE15 Marina Club is the proud organiser of the ONE15 Christmas Boat Light Parade, to take place on the evenings of 6 and 13 December 2014 (Saturday). Held for the first time this year on local Singapore waters, the parade will include about 12 to 15 power and sail boats of different lengths decked out in Christmas lights and decorations to the theme of A Tropical Christmas on Water.

The flotilla will depart from ONE15 Marina Club each night around 7.45pm to Sentosa Boardwalk, cruising along Sentosa’s coast and passing by the precinct’s various attractions including Siloso Beach, Resorts World Sentosa, HarbourFront Centre and VivoCity. At Sentosa Boardwalk, the participating boats will be judged by a panel of judges selected from the event’s sponsors between 8.15pm and 9.15pm each night of the parade. Participating boats stand a chance to win attractive cash prizes totalling over S$15,000.
