Sweden has decided to provide a financial support to the Academy of Culinary Arts Cambodia (ACAC) to promote culinary skills training and hospitality sector in Cambodia.
A three-year memorandum of understanding, worth US$2-million, was signed here this morning by the Embassy of Sweden and ACAC.
Mr. Samuel Hurtug, Counsellor, Deputy Head of Mission, Head of Development Cooperation, Embassy Sweden in Cambodia, said that having access to education is a main focus of Sweden's aid in Cambodia, stressing that skill development in hospitality field is significant for future development and welfare of Cambodia.
For his part, Mr. Pierre Tami, CEO of ACAC, said Cambodia is facing more competition from other countries in the region and the world in the area of tourism, therefore the country is in need of more qualified human resources in the culinary and hospitality sectors.
The main aim of ACAC, continued Mr. Pierre Tami, is to contribute to building skills and creating job opportunities for youths through a hospitality curriculum in alignment with ASEAN and Swiss standards.
