Competent government bodies documenting support documents to get coastal Kampot province listed as a world heritage city.
The update was shared recently by Director of National Institute of Tourism H.E. Koeut Puthvory following a discussion meeting on compilation process of the support documents.
Located in the southwestern Cambodia, Kampot is not only an oldest province of the country, but also of the region as underlined by the director.
The endeavour to get the province considered for registration by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee is co-led by Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, Ministry of Tourism, and the local authority.
When listed as a world heritage site, Kampot will be an important tourism product benefiting Cambodia and its people culturally and economically.
Let alone Kampot, Cambodia is also considering the possibility of getting two other oldest provinces of Battambang and Kratie listed as world heritage sites.
