Statues Inaugurated at Siem Reap’s Cambodia-India Friendship Garden

Siem Reap has officially inaugurated the statues of Ganesh (a Hindu god of wisdom with the head of an elephant) and the famous Indian philosopher Thiruvalluvar at the province’s Cambodia-India Friendship Garden.

The inauguration taking place on Sept. 29 was presided over by H.E. Ms. Chandira Priyanga, Minister of Transport, Arts and Culture of India’s Puducherry province and Mr. Muon Sopheap, Director of Siem Reap Provincial Department of Culture and Fine Arts.

Mr. Muon Sopheap warmly welcomed the Indian delegation for the visit to Siem Reap and the participation in the inauguration ceremony.

The blossoming Cambodia-India friendship as well as the new statues will contribute to attracting more Indian visitors to Cambodia, he added.

H.E. Ms. Chandira Priyanga thanked Siem Reap authority for the hospitality and considered the province as the land of gods stressing that she felt very welcome at the province.
