Some 608 Sports Disciplines of 38 Types of Sports Officially Listed for SEA Games 2023

A total of 37 kinds of sports and a demonstration sport have been officially approved for the SEA Games 2023 to be hosted by Cambodia.

The update was shared late last week by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC).

Besides the sports types, continued the secretary general, some 608 sports events have also been listed, the highest number since the regional games were created in 1956.

Member countries of SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games have agreed on the sports types and disciplines, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, President of CAMSOC, has already signed to approve the sports types and disciplines with full support from the Southeast Asian Sports Council, he said.

The 38 sports include Athletics (Track & Field and Marathon), Aquatics (Swimming, Diving, Water Polo and Finswimming), Badminton, Basketball (5×5 and 3×3), Billiards Snooker, International Boxing, Bodybuilding, Chess (chess, Chinese chess), Cycling (road and mountain bike), Cricket (T20/Sixes and T50/T20), Dancesport, E-sport, Fencing, Floorball, Football (men and women), Golf, Gymnastics (Aerobic and Artistic), Hockey (indoor, outdoor), Jet Ski, Judo, Karate, Mixed Martial Arts (Bokator, Arnis, Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, Vovinam, Kun Khmer), obstacle sports, Pencak Silat,  Petanque, Sailing, Sepak Takraw, Soft Tennis, Table Tennis, WT Taekwondo, Tennis, Traditional Boat Racing, Triathlon (Aquathlon and Duathlon), Volleyball (indoor and beach volleyball), Weightlifting, Wrestling, Wushu, and Teqball for the demonstration sport.
