Some 35,000 People Use Free Bus Service during Pchum Ben Day

During the recent Pchum Ben Day, some 35,000 people have returned to their respective hometowns using the free public bus service provided by the Phnom Penh municipal administration.

The figure was shared by Mr. Met Measpheakdey, Spokesperson of the municipal administration, adding that the passengers spoke highly of the free of charge transport service, which helped reduce their spending.

Some 175 buses have been used for the transport service for five days, from Sept. 23 to 27, of which 120 buses for transporting people from Phnom Penh to provinces and vice-versa, and 55 buses for transporting people in Phnom Penh.

At the same time, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in cooperation with Royal Railway also provided free passenger train service on the two railway lines – from Phnom Penh to Battambang province crossing Kampong Chhnang and Pursat provinces, and from Phnom Penh to Preah Sihanouk province passing through Takeo and Kampot provinces.
