The use of social media in Cambodia has seen a remarkable increase and the most popular one is Facebook with the recorded users of some 8.8 million or 54 percent of the total Cambodian population.
The figures were shared lately by Mr. Neang Mao, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Information and Communication Technology of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
The Royal Government of Cambodia is also using Facebook platform to cascade information and receive feedback from the public.
However, Mr. Neang Mao noticed that some social media users lack useful knowledge about Facebook and become the victims of technological use.
Recently, some Facebook accounts belonging to the government institutions and private sector have been hacked. Some have been recovered, while others not. In addition, fake news is also a big challenge for Facebook users in Cambodia.
