The construction of new Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport has completed more than 20 percent now.
The update was shared recently by H.E. Sinn Chanserey Vutha, Under-Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA).
Despite some emerging challenges, the first-phase construction process will be finished in March 2023 as planned, he said.
H.E. Sinn Chanserey Vutha explained that during the COVID-19 outbreak, the construction team faced difficulties especially with material transportation but are still well on track.
Worth some US$900 million, the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport will play an important role especially in tourism both in the province and Cambodia.
The new airport is located in Tayek commune, Sotr Nikum district and is about 50 kilometres from Siem Reap provincial city.
