Shanghai businessmen has paid a visit to Cambodia recently and expressed their interest in investing in coal-fired power plant and satellite system in Cambodia.
According to a news release of the Ministry of Commerce, the interest was made known by Mr. Liang Shan, Deputy Director of Shanghai Electronic Communication Technology Co., Ltd., and Mr. Yongtao Jiao, Director of Beidou Star Data Technology Co., Ltd, while paying a courtesy call on Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak, in Phnom Penh late last week.
On the occasion, while Mr. Liang Shan briefed H.E. Minister about the background of his company specialising in assembling coal-fired power plants with high technology and harmless to the environment, Mr. Yongtao Jiao mentioned about special features of his firm's satellite system that can capture clear images and transmit data across countries and continents.
They therefore requested support from the Ministry of Commerce to their investment projects which will contribute to meeting the local demand and developing the fields of electricity and telecommunications in Cambodia as well as to boosting the investment volume between the Kingdom and Shanghai.
In reply, H.E. Pan Sorasak expressed his strong support to the investment projects, asking both companies to study the geographical location of Cambodia and client potentials precisely before submitting their investment proposals to the Royal Government of Cambodia.
H.E. Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Commerce is ready to help facilitating the administrative formalities and procedures.
