Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol met here yesterday with Country Director of Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Cambodia Ms. Sunniya Durrani-Jamal to discuss and review ADB's ongoing and future programmes related to the ministry.
According to a news release of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), H.E. Sun Chanthol highlighted on-going projects to further expand Cambodia's road network by focusing on the improvement of Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) economic corridor and national integration, Phnom Penh city's congestion relief projects (such as the introduction of passenger boats and airport rail shuttles), and the improvement of, and new construction of, waste water treatment plants.
The improvement of Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville ports, the development of inland waterway port infrastructure and key elements of national logistics master plan were also mentioned by H.E. Senior Minister on the occasion.
H.E. Sun Chanthol also thanked ADB for its key role in Cambodia's development, and requested ADB to continue supporting MPWT's road projects and other programmes like road safety and overload control.
For her part, Ms. Sunniya Durrani-Jamal noted the ongoing 2019 Country Programming Mission conducted by the ADB Cambodia Resident Mission (CARM) to review and confirm with the Royal Government of Cambodia the operational lending and non-lending pipelines for 2019-2022.
