Cambodian Senior Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, received here yesterday a delegation from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council led by H.E. Edward Yau Tang-wah, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
According to the ministry's news release, the purpose of the visit was to explore investment opportunities related to the rehabilitation of Cambodia's transport infrastructure.
H.E Sun Chanthol briefed the delegation on the current status of Cambodia's infrastructure development, including the construction of road networks, improvement of the Southern and Northern lines railways linking to ASEAN countries and a potential railway between Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City. He also highlighted Sihanoukville projects including the expressway project, expansion of the deep-sea port, coastal area economic zones, and the development of new airports in Phnom Penh capital and Siem Reap province.
H.E. Senior Minister also expressed his strong support and commitment to welcoming and assisting in facilitating Hong Kong investors who are interested in Cambodia.
For his part, H.E. Edward Yau Tang-wah invited H.E. Sun Chanthol and a Cambodian delegation to visit Hong Kong to explore the logistics infrastructure.
