Senate Approves Draft Law on Licensing for Public Health

The draft law on licensing for public health was approved in the 11th session of the 3rd legislature of Senate held here on April 18 under the presidency of Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of Senate.

Forty-seven (47) out of 48 senators present at the session voted for the five-chapter and 24-article draft law.

Minister of Health H.E. Mam Bunheng represented the royal government to defend the draft law endorsed by the National Assembly on April 9, 2018.

The Law on Licensing for Public Health aims to enhance the right to access to pharmaceutical products for public health by granting compulsory licenses to produce, export and import pharmaceutical products in the case of national emergency and other circumstances of extreme urgency or in cases of public non-commercial use or other public health situations set by the Ministry of Health.
