Samdech Techo Hun Sen Calls for Establishment of Senior Scouts at Educational Institutions

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has appealed to all public and private education institutions to cooperate with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to establish senior scouts at their respective institutions.

The Premier made the appeal while presiding over the closing ceremony of Cambodia Scouts’ Conference, held at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia this afternoon.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen explained that senior scouts are the core force of morality because they are selected well, in terms of quantity and quality.

As the “Korukun” (great merits that are revered and unforgettable) of Cambodia Scouts, Samdech Techo Prime Minister urged for the strengthening of effectiveness of managing structure and activities of Cambodia Scouts at the capital, provincial, city, district and Khan levels, especially for the development of “policy and programme for senior scouts” to mobilise and manage scouts force.

Cambodia Scouts is an active non-formal education movement that has supported the education system in Cambodia. They are an important resource that must be developed to their full potential, physically, intellectually, socially and mentally, in order for them to become socially responsible citizens and active members of the community.

Cambodia Scouts are divided into three categories: junior scouts (9-11 years old), scouts (12-17 years old) and senior scouts (18-25 years old).
