The Russian Federation is going to host the 21st International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) World Cup from June 14 to July 15, 2018 with participation from 32 countries, including Europe, Asia & Australia, Africa, and Latin America, Mr. Dmitry Yudin, Counsellor of the political sector of the Russian Embassy in Phnom Penh told reporters this morning.
A total of 64 matches will be played in 11 venues located in 11 cities in Russia, said Mr. Yudin, along with showing slides about the information on the work of international media in the run-up to and throughout FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia, as well as about Russia's geography, population, and resources.
During the sport event, we can also show our culture, tradition, history it's better to see real Russia by yourself and the sport event can provide you with such opportunities, he said.
The final tournament will involve 32 national teams and the final will take place on July 15, 2018 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, he added, pointing out that the 32 teams include 14 countries in Europe, five from Asia and Australia, five countries from Africa, and eight countries from Latin America.
Such international sport event is not only for fun and fans but for some politicians and officials as well as you know that when Russia was elected in 2010 our President Vladimir Putin participated during the nomination as hosting country of the World Cup, he said. Some political decisions can be made during the sport event, such as the Winter Olympics in South Korea.
When asked about security, Mr. Yudin affirmed, No problem. Do not worry about this since Russia is a very strong and stable country.
The 22 members of FIFA Executive Committee convened in Zurich on Dec. 2, 2010 selected Russia to host the FIFA World Cup 2018 to be contested by the men's national teams of the member association of FIFA. It was founded in 1904 and based in Zurich, Switzerland.
