The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has recently issued a sub-decree to revise a criterion to get the Oknha title, according to a local media report.
Oknha is a title given by His Majesty the King of Cambodia, at the request of the RGC, to any individual who donates a budget or materials for humanitarian purpose or development in the country.
Based on the sub-decree signed on April 05, 1994, any charitable people granted Oknha title have to provide at least US$100,000 in cash or materials to the State, but on March 20, 2017, Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen signed a new sub-decree to increase the amount to US$500,000.
Up to now, it is estimated that over 700 people have obtained the title of Okhna.
