Cambodia is studying the possibility of developing a new fine sand beach resort in Preah Sihanouk province, according to local media report.
Deputy director in charge of accommodation and transportation services at the Ministry of Tourism Mr. Liv Vanheng was cited in the source sharing the planning.
To be branded 'Royal Dragon', the new tourism product encompasses 2,211 ha of land surface in Prey Nup district of the coastal province.
To date, competent tourism experts and local authorities are studying the impacts of the development in order to draw up a resort master plan that covers establishments of road infrastructure, beach quality, hotels and guesthouses, restaurants, and beyond.
Formulation of the so-called Royal Dragon beach resort is expected to be commissioned to a private investment.
The initiative of the Royal Government of Cambodia to transform the currently isolated beach into a high-standard tourism product responds to the rising market demand for such services by both domestic and international tourists.
