Throughout Cambodia, road accidents claimed 166 lives and injured 477 others in October 2018, according to a report of the Traffic Police and Public Order Department of the General Commissariat of National Police.
Over speeding, overtaking and other violations of traffic law are the major factors behind the recorded 309 incidents � suggesting higher number of cases and casualties comparing to September.
Of the October's deaths, 133 were on motorbikes and nearly 79 percent of them had not put on helmets, underlined the report.
The location with most cases of road accidents is Phnom Penh, followed by Kandal, Kampong Cham, Preah Sihanouk, Battambang, Kratie, Kampot, Takeo and Pursat.
Cumulatively, road traffic incidents took 1,479 lives and injured 3,904 people for the first ten months of 2018.
In 2017, the accidents killed 1,780 and injured 5,539 and in 2016 they caused 1,717 deaths and 6,607 injuries.
