The Royal Government of Cambodia will provide financial support for all poor pregnant women during pregnancy and postnatal period, starting from next year.
The planned financial aid was announced this morning by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, while presiding over the celebration of the 11th Cambodian Veteran Day held at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh.
According to the Premier, each of an estimated 55,000 poor pregnant woman will receive 40,000 Riel (US$10) four times during pregnancy, 200,000 Riel (US$50) during delivery, then 40,000 Riel ten times after childbirth until the baby reaches two years old.
In total, each of them will get 760,000 Riel (US$190) as financial support, from pregnancy to two years after childbirth.
This is part of the Royal Government's social protection policy in favour of poor pregnant women, underlined Samdech Techo Prime Minister.
